OUR ETHOS

ZIG+STAR is a modern kids’ footwear brand built on the belief that great design and sustainability should go hand in hand. We make shoes that are cool, unisex, and built to last — not just for one season or one child. Every pair combines comfort, style, and planet-friendly innovation, with clever features like removable midsoles that grow with little feet and materials chosen to reduce waste and carbon impact. We’re on a mission to give growing feet a smaller footprint — proving that kids’ shoes can look amazing, feel incredible, and do good for the world they walk in.

OUR MATERIALS

At ZIG+STAR, we carefully choose materials that are kinder to kids’ feet and the planet. Every component is selected for comfort, durability, and lower impact, and we prioritise suppliers who share our sustainability values, ensuring traceable and responsibly sourced material. We use Gold-certified LWG leather which comes from tanneries that meet the highest environmental and ethical standards and is produced using responsible water, energy, and chemical management, with traceability - Gold certified is the highest standard within global leather production. We use Natural Rubber in our outsoles, known for its durability and anti-slip qualities. Our packaging is FSC certified, recyclable (and reusable!) and we continually explore new innovations that reduce waste and emissions. By combining premium craftsmanship with conscious design, our shoes prove that sustainability doesn’t have to compromise on style or performance — because what goes into our shoes matters just as much as what they stand for.

OUR IMPACT

ZIG+STAR is committed to reducing its environmental impact at every step.... This starts with our sustainable "Good-To-Grow" design, follows through to production and our circular solutions -  Our Trade-In scheme means your old shoes can have another life through our donation charity partner, Sals Shoes, or we recycle them free of charge to divert them from landfill.  Through validated climate mapping with Climate-KIC, we've estimated that every pair of ZIG+STARs saves approximately 1.6 kg of CO₂e compared to conventional footwear. For the average family, that's a saving equivalent to the carbon absorbed by a mature tree in a full year. There is so much more we want to do but by focusing on extending the life of our products, sourcing responsible materials and offering end-of-life options, we are showing that even small steps can add up to a lighter footprint for the planet.
